For those of you who always dreamed about having your own cloud, Western Digital wants to make your dreams come true with its new WD 2go and WD 2go Pro mobile apps for its My Book Live personal cloud storage solution. The part about dreams is admittedly cheesy (and we're to blame for that one), but as far as the personal cloud goes, that's what Western Digital envisions as you remotely connect to your My Book Live drive from any computer or through your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, or compatible Android device. WD's My Book Live brings the cloud to your home by combining a physical drive you're free to tuck away wherever convenient with Web-based access to your data. [......]
Used game vendor GameStop is raring to go with its own-brand gaming tablet the company will refer to as a "GameStop certified gaming platform." GameStop president Tony Bartel told GamesIndustry.biz it has already chosen a specific model of tablet, and that it will run Google's Android operating system, the odds-on favorite if you were to venture a guess beforehand. The big question facing Ultrabooks right now is whether or not notebook makers will be able to sell them for less than $1,000, as Intel is encouraging them to do. To help manufacturers drop retail pricing to three digits, Intel reportedly agreed to a 20 percent drop in processor pricing for Ultrabooks, and it looks like Asus will respond with at least one model that dips below a grand (and at least one that doesn't). Word from news and rumor site DigiTimes is that Asus is planning to host an Ultrabook launch event in New York in October, just in time for the holiday shopping season but after the back-to-school rush.
