THQ Lashes Out at Used Game Buyers

THQ's Cory Ledesma didn't come out and say that used game buyers are the scum of the earth, but it's hard not to feel like you've just been given a verbal wedgie if you've ever shopped at Gamestop or bought a used game off of eBay. "I don't think we really care whether used game buyers are upset because new game buyers get everything," Ledesma told Gamasutra. [......]

Motorola Sends Out Cease-And-Desist Notices to Sites Offering Early Droid X Froyo Updates

Motorola earned a bit of a black eye from the modding community by introducing a hardware e-fuse used to enforce software restrictions, and they certainly aren’t helping their case by sending out cease-and-desist letters to sites offering "unofficial” Froyo updates for Droid X owners. Website MyDroidWorld was the first of many Android sites to receive the takedown notice from Motorola, but it’s unclear at this point how enforceable the notice actually is. My guess is that most sites would rather comply than risk ending up across the table from Motorola in court[......]

Leaked Version of Office 15 Suggests Microsoft is Working on a new Application called “Lime”

Office 14 (2010) has only been out a few months now, but a leaked pre-alpha build of Office 15 suggests that Microsoft is planning a new application known at this point only as “Microsoft Lime”. Very little is known about Lime at this point, however ZDnet blogger Mary Jo Foley claims her contacts describe it as a “user-interface utility for Office”. Based on this description it is hard to tell if Microsoft Lime will indeed be a stand-alone application, or perhaps just a new feature similar to the ribbon. [......]

Firefox 4 Beta 4 Gives Users the Option to try Direct2D GPU Acceleration

Microsoft made waves in the browser community by being the first to announce GPU accelerated browsing, but oddly enough, it looks like they will be in a neck and neck race with Mozilla to be the first to market with the new feature in an official release. Firefox 4 Beta 4 which is releasing on Monday will include support for Direct2D acceleration; unfortunately however a few technical glitches have kept it from being “on” by default. Luckily Mozilla has released details on how to reactivate it on their Wiki , and the process is pretty simple[......]
